Petition to Lower Electricity Costs in Southwest Virginia

1. Freeze Appalachian Power Rates – This would provide immediate relief for families burdened by skyrocketing utility bills, preventing further increases and offering financial stability.
2. Increase Citizen Representation – Adding more citizen members to the Commission for Electric Utility Regulation ensures local voices are heard and communities have a say in how rates are set.

Families are struggling with bills as high as $1,400 a month, which is unsustainable for those on fixed or modest incomes. These initiatives aim to make electricity more affordable, transparent, and fair.
